☕️ (R)emote Expresso #37

This is not a drill (but it is a disco) 🪩

Hi (R)emotes,

☕️ (R)emote Expresso is your weekly dose of creator insights on remote collaboration designed to fuel your day - Once a week in your inbox 💌

🚨 Emergency Whimsy Broadcast System Activated 🚨

This is not a drill.

This is not even a carefully scheduled “fun break” in your calendar.

This is raw, uncut whimsy - headed straight for your inbox.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled remote work reality to bring you:

  • Unfiltered possibility (some of which may sparkle)

  • Questionable metaphors (you’ve been warned)

  • Ideas so oddly brilliant you’ll want to scribble them on a napkin and tape it to your webcam immediately

For the next few minutes, we are operating on:

Pure imagination

Mild chaos

Unapologetic delight

The world’s heavy right now - so consider this your sanctioned permission slip to drift into a parallel universe where deadlines are elastic, meetings have theme songs, and the corporate dress code includes “whatever makes you feel like a main character.”

📡 Transmission Ends When Your Smile Returns.

🚨 Your Brain is Not a Fire Drill 🚨

If your week feels like one endless “URGENT: see me” Slack ping, you are not alone.

But here’s a dangerous thought: what if you treated your own joy like it was a critical system outage?

Pure imagination - the kind that makes you sketch a llama wearing roller skates during your next meeting.

Mild chaos - yes, the spreadsheet is fine; no, you can’t explain the glitter.

Unapologetic delight - pressing “play” on your happy song like it’s a company-wide broadcast.

The pelican knows exactly when to strike, and so do you.

– overheard in a strategy meeting, probably

Step 1: Declare an immediate whimsy lockdown (no meetings, only imagination).

Step 2: Apply glitter liberally (metaphorical or physical - you do you).

Step 3: Invite one other human to join you in something that makes absolutely no sense but feels good anyway.

Because burnout doesn’t stand a chance against a truly ridiculous group activity.

If your thoughts keep sprinting like they’re late for a meeting, remind them: this is a marathon of mayhem, not a 100-meter panic dash. 🧠📢

🎨 Speaking of Ridiculous Group Activities…

The (R)Generation Creator Program is back - Season 25/26 edition.

We’re recruiting mischief-minded makers, chaos-with-a-purpose designers, and remote-culture tinkerers to dream up what work could be… and then actually make it real.

This is your official permission slip to:

  • Test ideas too weird for LinkedIn (but perfect for us).

  • Team up with strangers who immediately feel like co-conspirators.

  • Build the next wave of (R) Generation experiments, events, and questionable memes.

📌 Apply before August 22 - because the best future-of-work breakthroughs usually start with, “Screw it, let’s try.”

When the meeting invite says ‘BYO tools’ and you take it way too literally.

📡 Broadcast from an Alternate Timeline

In another universe, you woke up today to a push notification that read:

Today’s productivity metric is measured entirely in belly laughs and surprise collaborations.

Imagine running your remote team from that reality:

  • Stand-ups start with sharing the weirdest Perplexity image search you’ve done this week.

  • Deadlines are replaced with “Best Before Dates” (like milk, but less spoilage risk).

  • Status reports? One-sentence poems.

The trick: borrow one tiny thing from that alternate world and smuggle it into this one before Monday.

In case of seriousness, break glass and release the whimsy.

🌀 Whimsy as a Leadership Competency

You’re already managing projects, people, and platforms. But can you manage delight?

Turns out, whimsy is a renewable resource that increases psychological safety, fuels innovation, and makes your calendar less soul-sucking.

Your Emergency Whimsy Kit:

  1. An Object of Mystery - keep something on your desk no one can explain (and never tell them).

  2. The “Why Not?” Rule - if an idea makes you smile, pilot it once before killing it.

  3. Micro-Mischief Mondays - commit to one small, harmless disruption every week.

Remember: the future belongs to the playfully prepared.

— The (R) Generation Team 💻🧡

🫶 PS: If it feels too small to matter, you’re probably doing it right.
